Why This Must Be Read: The summary says: Is it possible to reconnect with a lost love? Rodney died in 1999 and John never got over his death until one day when he picks up the phone and strangely Rodney is on the other end of the phone but it’s a younger Rodney talking to him across time from 1993.

This fic switches back and forth between the two timelines working beautifully through areas of their relationship through Johns memories. I have to admit this one made me cry.

This fic was written for the[livejournal.com profile] enter_tzone challenge
I first came across the beautiful artwork by [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary and I was intrigued so I just had to go in search of this story and I am so glad I did.

Ten years. It had been ten years since he had died and the pain in John’s heart was just as sharp as it had been on the day he had heard the news.
John tipped his head back and drained the rest of his beer. There had been a time, not too far in the past, when this wouldn’t be his second beer of the day, but his twenty second. He’d managed to pull himself out of that particular rut, but there was still a lot of work to be done in his life. He decided to allow himself another beer and maybe one after that; this was the anniversary of his death after all.
