Why this must be read:  Told entirely from Sam's POV, in the aftermath of Heroes and Janet's death, Sam is a woman already in transition, as she makes her way to join Jack and Daniel at a beachhouse for some team bonding and comfort, when some hard truths about her two teammates (and, inadvertantly, about herself) are laid out before her eyes.  I love stories that bring Sam to some hard truths about herself and where her life is going that still keep her recognizably adult and a good person, as well as a good friend. This is just such a fic.  Jack and Daniel's relationship is portrayed with heat and complexity, and the author effortlessly uses the coming rain as a reflection of their relationship and of Sam herself. 

Author's Summary:  "Sam discovers something unexpected about her close friend and her erstwhile safe bet."
