Why this must be read: This is a post-Threads fic which takes place in the Christmas after season 8. Nothing happened between Sam and Jack in the cabin; Sam went to Nevada, Jack to D.C., and now Sam doesn't really know what to do to change things. She is looking forward to a Christmas with her brother Mark, to relax and think about her next steps, but when her plans change suddenly, there's only one person she wants to be with.

What I like the most about this fic is that it addresses the differences between the CO/2IC and the lovers. Jack and Sam are used to being teammates, and even though they want things to change, actually making the changes is hard for them.

Summary: Sam's change of Christmas plans may mean Jack needs to change his strategy.
