Why this must be read: This is an AU in which Sam was injured in the same accident in which her mother died. She ended up with a disability, a problem in her leg which prevented her from joining the military and changed things completely. The Sam we see here is not the confident Captain we get to see on the show, but an introvert scientist who is so used to being invisible that she actually expects it. The character development is very, very good, and it's interesting to see how much joinging the Stargate program changes her life.

Summary: No matter what path she takes, there were some things that were destined to be.
