Why this must be read:

An incredible look at Daniel and how far he's willing to go to save his friends. With Sam held hostage and a gun held to her head, Daniel doesn't hesitate to do what needs be done and kill to save a friend. I really liked how calm Daniel was. In spite of the common cliché that he's a pacifist, this fic explores, with great insight, a Daniel that definitely doesn't fit the pacifist mold. Threaten a friend and you better be prepared for the outcome. Protective!Daniel, what's not to love?

Daniel swallowed the breath in his throat as his heart hammered against his chest. Sam stared up at him from her knees, the side of her pale face speckled in a fine spray of the soldier's blood. He slowly lowered his pistol and met her gaze. "You okay?"

"Yeah." Her voice was rough and quiet. Her gaze was locked on his. "Daniel... are you okay?"

He took a deep breath and then nodded slowly. "I made my decision."

She nodded back and took his hand.
