Why this must be read:

Crossover with: MacGyver

MacGyver and Stargate crossover so naturally with RDA having such prominence in both series. What I like about Buried Dreams, though, is how plausible it is! It's not a "MacGyver is Jack's long lost twin" or "Jack's clone" sort of fic; MacGyver meets a student Daniel Jackson on an archeological dig in Egypt. The timeframe it takes place in makes it seem so real. This could have happened cannonically!  :D Now add to that plausibility some very tantalizing Stargate canon elements and fantastic action/adventure elements from Jane Davitt's very talented keyboard and you've got a fic worth reading!

Story Summary: MacGyver's sent to an Egyptian dig to investigate some thefts and meets a young Daniel Jackson, whose shadowed past is about to darken his future.

"Okay, kid --"

"Daniel. Daniel Jackson."

"Name's MacGyver." Mac held out his hand and shook Daniel's. "Now, see, you've got sand in, well, just about everywhere sand can get. Which wouldn't usually be a problem; these Jeeps are tough." He gave the hood an affectionate pat and regretted it. Hot enough to fry an egg on. Which took care of lunch, but wasn't helping fix the Jeep.

"But it's a problem now, because?"

Nice kid. Blue eyes. Really blue, even behind his specs. MacGyver smiled at him. "Because if you don't get back to that dig you were telling me about, you'll miss them opening up the burial chamber, right?"

"Right, but I don't see…"

"So we fix it."

I started reading this and realized I'd read it ages ago. I'm happy to report that it stands the test of time, still as entertaining as it was the first time around.
