Show: Stargate SG-1
Rec Category: Samantha Carter/Jack O'Neill
Characters: Sam, Jack, Daniel, Teal'C, Fifth
Pairing: Sam/Jack
Het/Slash/Gen: Het
Warning: Flashbacks of torture
Author on LJ: Not sure
Author's Website: Not sure
Link: Fracture
Why this must be read: Okay, so I'm a bit biased as I helped beta this (under a different username). But it doesn't change the fact that hopeisabluebird is wickedly talented and this is one of the most hauntingly beautiful and best Sam fics I've read in a long time. The show didn't dwell too much on the repercussions of Sam being tortured by Fifth, and the author just makes her ordeal so exquisitely felt, and it's written in a perfectly disjointed and stream of consciousness way that it feels like an extension of the readers own sensory feelings. Sam is scarred, and true to her character she attempts to live with these cracks in her without revealing them, and the way the team is there to catch her fall... sigh... this is SG-1 at their finest. The Sam/Jack is subtle, like their relationship, but the girly shipper impact is made somehow stronger by the revelations brought forth.

Date: 2010-06-29 04:36 am (UTC)The whole SG1 team has been through hell and back...I cannot think of who, at the end, had it harder--even the latter additions Jonas, Vala and Cam.
Poor Sam.
But she always has Jack, Daniel and Teal'c...however, the little line about Janet Frasier catching the PTSD symptoms etc kinda made me all blubby.
Thanks again
