Why this must be read: This is one of those epic series I keep hearing about. I. could. not. stop. reading. Basically this is an AU where, instead of Jack choosing to retire upon Earth's treaty with the Aschen, he chooses to fight instead. It's difficult to say why I loved this- I loved this for so many reasons. The romance was only one small aspect of it. There was also adventure, action, betrayal... etc etc. Sam and Jack just  became that much more when they chose to sacrifice their past for civilization and humanity- even when it's not their own. Shows the great lengths the two will do for each other, as well for the greater good. And, as a reviewer mentioned, I like any fic where Jack finally becomes the hero everyone knows him as. It was an absolute privilege to read the series, which included Part 2 and Part 3.
