Why This Must Be Read:

From the summery: “When Daniel is kidnapped by an Unas, Jack risks everything to get him back. Meanwhile Sam is faced with the burden of command and has a life and death decision to make. (S4)”

This is a fantastic long piece. It’s long, at 449k, but it’s stuffed full with plot, action, and character work. The angst is well-done, and thick with everyone, while the h/c aspects deal mainly with Daniel, who gets hurt bad in this one. But as always, he wears it extremely well.

I love ELG's stuff, I like the way she writes all the characters, not just J/D, particularly Sam.

Haven't read this in a while, will put it in the to read list, when I finish art for Worldcon artshow, worldcon dealers room, programme book, next Discworld convention, various other fillos and commissions. How did this worldcon, which I've known about for, oh, ten years, creep up on me like this?
