Why this must be read: I saved a long story for the weekend. This is a time-shift AU that asks the question what if Sateda's fight against the Wraith had happened in early season two after the Atlantis expedition arrived in Pegasus? This is a wonderfully woven story that keeps to canon before “Runner” and delves into the dynamics of the Atlantis expedition meeting up with a fully blossoming, modern Sateda. This is a rich exploration of Satedan culture and politics, intermixed with a beautifully fleshed out look at Ronon’s and Melena’s relationship.

There are several fantastic action scenes, a ton of suspense, and h/c, but at the center, is the developing friendship between John and Ronon under a completely different set of circumstances with plenty of twists and turns. This is truly a tale about fate and how sometimes you can not escape destiny.
