Why this must be read: Right before Earth is destroyed, Sam and Jack are forced to get married in order to save Jack's life and get him off world along with the other survivors of Earth. This is a great story about how our heroes survive after such a tragedy. Ruth slowly develops the Sam/Jack from a hastily organized and somewhat unwanted marriage of convenience into something deeper, and creates a fascinating little world at the Alpha Site with good original characters, conflicts and two horses named Marge and Homer.
