jd_ficathon , this little vignette, taking place between Unending and The Ark of Truth, is a nifty character study of Daniel that packs a wallop in its portrayal of the man at this time in his career with the SGC. His perseverance, in spite of his weariness and self-questioning, and the subtle views we get of his place with all the people around him, are believably, palpably reflected in the spare, bleak langauge and the quiet, steady flow that shows a man who's been on West Africa time longer than his share.
