Why This Must be Read:
This story was written for the prompt "Atlantis is the last evacuation point when Earth is destroyed" and it does an excellent job of showing a tortured Cam and a John who knows exactly when to be silent and when to offer comfort. John and Cam are enough alike, especially with Cam in this state, that it's completely believable that John can read Cam so well and their relationship ends up being this beautiful thing. This story is heartbreaking but still manages to end on a hopeful note.
