Why This Must be Read:
This story is very very painful. It goes AU after "Be All my Sins Remembered" It's a look into John's life after he's lost everything and resigned himself to a life of misery, and he gets called back to the Job to do something that only he can do. He does it knowing it'll probably break him permanently. This story is heart breaking, but very in character for all the main players, and the ending made me stare at my computer screen at a loss for words for a good while. This story is one that's sure to stick with you long after reading it.
