Why This Must Be Read:

In a demonstration of my awesome luck when it comes to fic exchanges, this was written for me as well. It’s short and funny and kind of sweet – Teyla and Cadman are trapped in a mysterious chamber off-world, and even if the story wasn’t wonderful (which it is) it’d be worth reading for the reveal of what the chamber’s for.

Havoc does a great job of creating a life on Atlantis beyond the main cast, and a life for Teyla beyond just her interaction with the team – we barely see her with anyone other than Laura in the story, but her bond with Elizabeth in particular really shines through, as does how much she feels part of the Atlantis mission.

The author categorizes this story as "femslash," not "gen," and I'd have to agree; I think putting "Gen" as a category, especially the first category, is just a little misleading. Might I suggest that this one should not be tagged "gen"? It's a fine story, but I wouldn't expect to get it by clicking on this community's "gen" tag.

Hmm, fair point. I think I probably have a more flexible definition of gen than a lot of people, so I'll edit it. Though the fact that gen came first is pretty meaningless - I categorise as I think of things, not out of any kind of priority.
