Rec Category: Daniel Jackson
Pairing: Jack/Daniel
Category: Action/Adventure; Drama; Angst; Pre-Slash; Slash; Jack O'Neill
Warning: None
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author's Website: Remma's Home World (Since this is a Geocities site, you can also find Remma's fics at Area 52.)
Link: The Nature of the Beast
Why This Must Be Read: Some of my favorite kinds of SG-1 fics are Daniel and/or Jack/Daniel focused stories, centered around the adventure and drama of SGC missions, that show Daniel at his linguist/archaeologist/anthropologist best, and that portray Daniel and Jack's relationship believably in all its complex, banter-y, incontrovertible glory. This is that kind of story. Set sometime post-Divide and Conquer, as their friendship has become increasingly fraught with tension and anger, Daniel sets off on a mission with another team, one that brings him a satisfyingly entertaining mix (for the reader) of action, suspense, and danger. It all provides a perfect backdrop for portraying Daniel at his professional best, sets the stage for understanding and resolution between Jack and Daniel (and between Daniel and another supporting canonical character - think Legacy), and casts it with a smattering of original characters, especially one emotionally engaging young man, who do just what they're supposed to do here - support rather than steal the limelight.
Author's Summary: "Daniel begins to question his place on SG-1, but before he can make a decision, he is lost offworld. Can Jack find him, and if he does, can he convince him to stay?"
