Why This Must Be Read: This story. Wow. The situations that it describes are incredibly harrowing, yet never descend into melodrama or overwrought angst. John, Rodney and Teyla are trapped in a labyrinth along with a group of stranded Atlantis personnel, while Ronon is separated from them on the surface. As the situation of those in the labyrinth deteriorates, the struggle for survival (and Ronon's quest to bring help) becomes ever more desperate. This is a really fantastic survival story, with well-characterized OCs, some fascinating character moments, and wonderfully understated h/c.

Date: 2009-07-03 07:19 pm (UTC)It makes me sad that the author didn't stay in the fandom very long; she appears to have dipped her toe in season two and then moved on to Supernatural fandom, where she stayed. I'm sure she's a boon to her current fandom, but it would have been wonderful to have gotten more SGA fic from her!

Imagine my surprise, going back and re-reading it much later, to find just how much the fandom's understanding of Ronon had changed in subsequent seasons; he feels very "off" to me now, but I remember how spot-on he seemed at the time, so a lot of it is just that the character has so much more depth, subtlety and fanon now.
