Rec Category: AU
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Category: John/Rodney, Romance
Warning: ie: Slash
Author on LJ: Lamardeuse
Author's Website: When the World is Puddle-Wonderful
Link: Romance at the Roadkill Grill
Why This Must Be Read:
For the romance novel readers, here is a story just for you. Romance at the Roadkill Grill is loosely based Lamardeuse's 40 seconds reading of the back of a romance novel. The novel featured a woman making a fresh start in a small town as a diner owner, and a hunky lobster fisherman. Now imagine Rodney and John in the roles of the diner owner and fisherman, respectively.
This is not an over the top type of story. Lamardeuse labels her story crack AU. I found it to be very romantic, but then I'm a sucker for anything John/Rodney. This story is a fun read and should be enjoyed for what it is - something sweet and "aww" inspiring. And you have to applaud Lamardeuse for writing a deliciously stressed out and rantful Rodney. It's comforting to know that no matter what vocation Rodney chooses, he'll always be scornful of his peers.
