Why This Must Be Read: In Treed, Ronon rescues Rodney by flinging both of them off a cliff and into a very tall tree. Then the real ordeal in this very funny friendship story begins as the two spend several hours trapped together waiting for rescue. Ronon is so calm, capable and charming as he takes excellent care of McKay that it's little wonder that Rodney can't stay mad about their position or his injuries. I love how Ronon's POV is note-perfect and his wistful memories of Sateda balance out the lighter elements. The story is full of hilarious lines and warm moments that made me grin. By the end hopefully you will agree that there should be more Ronon and Rodney friendship stories like this, especially ones that somehow contain the boys hairstyling and eating bugs.
A snippet...
Ronon stared at the label on his empty wrapper and thought about Earth writing, about the titles of the books Lt. Cadman sometimes read to him in the common room, about names. People from Earth had a lot of names.
"Rodney," he said experimentally.
McKay's head snapped up. "Oh my God, what's the matter? Are you dying?"
"No," said Ronon, calculating. "That's your name." He eyed McKay questioningly. "Sheppard calls you Rodney."
"Yes, and that time on MX6-871 with the 'fragrant herbs' Colonel Sheppard called everyone including the Grand Poohbah 'buttercup,' doesn't mean you should to go taking liberties."
