Why This Must Be Read: In the interests of full disclosure, I'll admit I'm a J/D OTPer and not an Atlantis viewer. Nevertheless, the allure of Daniel brought me to this fic, and I'm so glad it did. This is a beautifully moving tale of two disparate men, meeting in matching grief, finding comfort and strength in each other as well as the reaffirmation of the need to connect with the living. Told with a lyricism and pace that reflect that of the lament you imagine Daniel singing, with a motif of meetings on balconies flowing through the story that are wonderfully evocative of Daniel's state of mind each time, the author leaves each man on a perfect end note. And, for this reader, much as Ronon was "intrigued" by Daniel Jackson, I've become intrigued with the Daniel/Ronon pairing.
Author's Summary: "Earth is destroyed and a lone ship full of survivors makes it to Atlantis. A guilt-ridden and emotionally spent Daniel is able to find comfort and healing in someone that knows the pain of his loss intimately."
