Why This Must Be Read: Claira gives us a badly shaken Sam and her quietly supportive CO, in the immediate aftermath of Sam's first up-and-close kill sometime in S1. There is stark imagery and very human pain, and Jack offering the only words he can. Stains is short, sharp, and vivid, and - like the smell of soap - it will linger for you long after you've finished reading.
She hadn’t realized how casual she had become about death looking through the viewfinder of a MP-5.
