Why This Must Be Read: Remember spit-fire Janet, coming to Cassie's defense and threatening to kill Nirrti if she didn't help her?
In this excellent S1 story, Geonn Cannon treats us to a Janet with that same courage and spirit - only this time, the person she is defending is Teal'c. And while the wounds of rejection might not be as visible as those in the physical realm, Janet has the wisdom and determination to heal both.
Lovely characterization, and the triumph of Janet's spirit against the sour backdrop of human pettiness - Lunchrooms are Alike All Over is a gem!
"Hi," she said, smiling brightly. "May I sit here?"
"There appear to be no other seats in the cafeteria," he pointed out, quickly scanning the room.
"So... you don't mind?"
He motioned for her to sit and she took the invitation. A couple of people were looking at her, but she ignored them. She set her tray down, centered it in front of her, then smiled at Teal'c. "So... how has your day been?"
Teal'c stared at her.
"This is called small talk," she said.
