Okay, first to explain why I chose this story. This piece is Daniel. It's almost entirely introspective and beautifully details the thoughts and emotions of the character. Heed the warnings though as it is possibly some of the heaviest angst I've yet to read and depicts in detail the deconstruction of the psyche.
The story begins with a mission gone wrong... Jack forcing Daniel to make a decision that mentally Daniel is incapable of processing. It's Daniel pushed to the edge and how he falls over it and invariably begins to lose himself to the pain that has welled up inside of him.
When I first started watching the show, I was quickly introduced to the fact that prior to Meridian Daniel was on a downhill spiral. This story is a perfect illustration of what could have been going on inside he mind of Daniel Jackson, the hopelessness, helplessness, and despair. It is a deeply angst-filled read, but it's a great one!
