Why This Must Be Read: This won the "Best Slash Angst" award in last year's fan fic awards, but I have to tell you, it's one of the funniest things I've ever read. Witness the following exchange after Carter is an unwitting "spectator" to Jack's, er, rather vocal performance:

"Tell me you'll still respect me in the morning, Carter."

"Respect isn't a problem. I mean TWICE! At YOUR age."

"MY age?" Jack inquired dangerously.

"Permission to be awestruck, Sir," she teased.

"Granted. Just don't...don't encourage him." Jack waved a hand in Daniel's general direction. "I want to be able to walk tomorrow morning."

Snappy dialogue, a perfectly snarky (yet curiously vulnerable) Jack, and a Daniel who is finally willing to stand up for what he wants and needs, even though the circumstances are less than ideal. Throw in some great supporting performances from a bemused yet supportive Carter and Teal'c, who can't help but stare at the train wreck happening right in front of them, and you have a perfectly lovely four course meal. And of course, some hot slash for dessert. Yum!

Thank you so much for this rec! I couldn't stop reading althoug it was already 4am last night.. now I've been all tired all day long, but it was soooooo worth it!! =)

Glad you liked it! Pepe's stuff is usually a lot grittier than this, and I got the impression when I first corresponded with her that it wasn't one of her favorites. I told her "that's okay, it's mine!" :D I like all her stuff, but this one rocks!
