Why this must be read:
Reading a story by lamardeuse is like watching an old black-and-white romance movie for me, from the way the characters are introduced to the way the story builds. In this, Rodney is a photographer, who comes to question the choices he's made when he runs into his old friend Radek, another photographer. His dissatisfaction with his live drives him out into the world, where he runs into John Sheppard, who is volunteering, along with Teyla and Ronon, for the Pegasus Project and working with disadvantaged youth.
I guess I should just stop right there, as I don't want to tell the whole story, and for me, the romantic flow was seamless and the primary misunderstanding an outgrowth of who John and Rodney are, despite the change in occupation and location. It is a lovely and sweet AU.
