Why This Must Be Read: The wonderful Tallulah Rasa calls this "unfinished business," in that it's technically the start of a larger story she never expects to finish. But this reads beautifully as a coda of its own: the quiet ending of SG-1, and the not-so-quiet unwillingness to just drift into the future.

Lovely Daniel POV (as always), warm touches of team and humor, the delightful shorthand that will always and forever exist between Jack and Daniel... and the promise of a new beginning, all over again. Read this one and smile.

"Think we can convince Teal'c and Carter to come along?"

"They're probably already packed," Daniel said.

"Are you?" Jack asked. "Because I'm about fifteen minutes away from your house."

"It's taken you twelve years," Daniel said. "What are you driving? You're making really crappy time."

Tallulah is an amazing writer and this is a Jack and Daniel so recognizable, so real, that I can picture this actually happening. I loved the layering of how age has affected the team, especially Daniel, who might resent aging more than anyone else.
