Why This Must Be Read:
This is a rather long story I read a couple of years ago and marked as a favorite. I haven’t come across too many fanfics that deal with just how truly alien the Pegasus Galaxy can be, that try to portray non-humanoid life forms as anything but bad guys. Stealth Dragon does a fantastic job here, bringing to life a sentient species that is totally out of the team’s experience, yet still manages to make them sympathetic and even a ‘people’ we can relate to in many ways. When Sheppard literally falls into their midst, he finds himself taken into one of their homes and cared for – as their pet. And although his “owner” tries to keep him safe and does his best to take care of him (as a good owner should), Sheppard doesn’t fare very well. When I say major whumpage, I’m not kidding. Great concept, expertly executed, and a story you will not be able to walk away from until you read “The End.”
