Why This Must Be Read: I'm reccing this under the category of Vala, but really, there's so much focus on the team and how the deal with of a different way "The Quest" could have gone for Daniel. Odette changes how Daniel is separated from the team at the end of "The Quest, part 1" and how it affects all of them, the team, Daniel and of course Vala. The Daniel and Adria interaction is great, and telling for both of them, as is the reactions of the team as they try and get Daniel back.



Daniel ignores her and looks at her mother, before gently removing his arm from her grip and going for his gun. Adria remains holding his arm and he turns to glare at her. “Excuse me?”

She looks at him and keeps her eyes away from the cliff. Then she smiles, and pulls his arm, and they’re tumbling down through the dark.

Her body is beneath his, which is where it needs to be. She’ll survive the fall, and needs to make sure that he does, too. He’s no good to her dead.

Vala screams as he goes over the edge.
