Beautiful, beautiful story. 'The Fifth Race' is one of the best mirrors of the Jack/Daniel relationship. Daniel's steadfastness, his unshakeable belief in Jack and Jack's utter...loss...,is the best word I can come up with, of self and how this affects him, both physically and emotionally.

Loved this fic.
