Why This Must Be Read:
This is a great add to the episode Beachhead. Madd4the24 explores what's going through Daniel's mind in the infirmary at the end of the episode and a bit after that. "They all assume it’s the damned link, and he lets them." (author's summary). The romantic link between Daniel has been lightly touched upon in episodes like Memento Mori but never has Daniel's mind and feelings been explored in this depth on screen. Daniel knows in his heart that Vala is still out there and he's gonna keep that hope. Wonderful story that had me right there with Daniel the whole time.
