Why This Must Be Read:
This is part of Lionchilde's Fire and Water series, which is AU. You absolutely don't have to read the entire series to understand this story. Ever since getting into the Stargate fandom and the Daniel/Vala ship, I've loved this little story. A tiny snippet is all we need to understand Daniel's protective nature and Vala's vulnerability. With just 500 words, Lionchilde conveys the events of an entire day. For some reason the image of Daniel having skinned knuckles on his wedding day just strikes me as brilliantly in character in the context of the story. This story also shows the family nature SG-1 and General Landry have. Brilliant imagery and a great take on what Daniel and Vala's wedding day would be.
