I wanted to rec
friendshipper’s Long Road Home, but I found it has already been rec’ced under AU. That’s okay, two for the price of one: if you want to read a gorgeous John/Rodney friendship fic, set in Texas, go here. Perhaps one of the mods can add a John/Rodney friendship tag to this story; it very much deserves one.
On with my last rec for May:
Rec Category: John and Rodney friendship
Pairing: none
Category: h/c, John/Rodney friendship, gen
Warning: mild spoilers for Epiphany; see author's warnings.
Rating: R for language

Why This Must Be Read: because
maisierita writes wonderful fic!
While exploring an abandoned mine, Sheppard falls down a shaft and the team is unable to retrieve his body.
The story is broken up in parts, from one minute before the accident till fifty-nine hours after the accident and Rodney keeps track of every second while he tries to deal with what happened.
It is a wonderful tense and gripping story with excellent Rodney.
--------------------
One minute after
Ronon's arms are tight around his waist, holding him back, holding him safe, and Teyla is calling frantically for help on her radio, but Rodney can't hear her. He's gone a special kind of deaf, he thinks, because all he can hear is the sound of Sheppard's panicked shout ringing in his ear.
