Why This Must Be Read:

This is, hands down, the story I have read and re-read most in this fandom. It's like one deliciously long PWP, with the added benefit of Pining!John, Oblivious!Rodney, and an indecent proposal. Written for sgabigbang in 2007, its companion artwork by crysothemis and video by mamoru22 (included in the link) are just icing on the cake. It is a long read, but absolutely worth it--and scorching hot, besides. Rodney is steadily won over by a patient John, and you get to see both of their perspectives as they slowly realize that what they have is not at all what they thought--it's better.

I read a great post once by another SGA author (edit: resonant8 here!) who said that the best way to write sex scenes in fanfiction is to create a sense of longing in the reader. If your story has multiple scenes, they said to be sure to hold something back in each one, so that sense of longing can be sustained, keeping the scenes fresh and interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a better example of exactly what they were talking about than this fic.

I have to second this rec: I'm a newcomer to the fandom, only read this fic last weekend, but it's so deliciously gradual. velocitygrass writes some of the sweetest and hottest sex I've read in this fandom, and here she gets to write multiple sex scenes that are grounded in the emotional plot.
