Why This Must Be Read: All Daniel wanted was a bottle of milk...”

This ficlet makes me cackle with glee, because I find it to be so perfectly Daniel. Go about his perfectly innocent business. Run into (possibly mortal) danger. Seek a peaceful solution, try to keep things calm, open a dialogue and establish a line of negotiation… and, when all else fails, use whatever tool is at hand to whack the bad guy over the head.

Too short for a snippet, but well worth the read. And look! [info]mistraltoes wrote a remix of this: Trigger Finger (The Eleven O'Clock Remix).

Great rec. Nice little character study of Daniel.

Heh, yeah. I'm having this Aris Boch THING lately. I blame SciFi Channel's ads for the 80's Flash Gordon movie on dvd: twenty-six year old blond Sam Jones running around in a tank top.

I've read the six fanfics with him I can find on the internet, and the Fandemonium tie-in novel Siren's Song.

Well, six counting things like Misdirection, an episode tag to Deadman's Switch where Teal'c is just reporting something Aris said on his tel'tak to Jack, and The Rescue That Wasn't which is mainly a Jack/Daniel slash and Aris is just there in the background and could really have been any OC.

I thought Siren's Song was incredible. Lots of good banter and angst, fills out the background of Aris and his people. Aris captures SG-1 because his people have found an Ancient vault buried at the bottom of their naquada mine, and he needs Daniel to read the inscription on the door because Sebek has promised to finally free his son Aadi if he can get at the goodies the Ancients locked up. Aris has also noticed that just being outside the door makes Goa'uld and Jaffa and Earther Humans sick, so this might be the perfect opportunity to kill Sebek and retake the homeworld. Which complicates things when Sebek takes Daniel for a new host.

Oh sorry! Forgot that different people have different spoiler limits for plot synopsis. Didn't really go into much more detail than what's on the back cover of the book, though.

Eh, mostly still me sticking my foot in my mouth. The exact quote is 'When Jackson refuses, the Goa'uld resorts to devastating measures to ensure his cooperation.'. Again, I apologize, I've been out of mainstream-fandom for awhile and got rusty on spoilers-nettiquette outside of my own friendslist. I really just meant to emphasize that it's an action-packed plot and lots of team-angst.
