Why this should be read:
Here is one of the many wonderful tales that came out of
samcarterfic. This fic too explores the darker aspects of Sam's blending with Jolinar. A mission gone wrong and use of a hand device post-Seth leaves Sam grieving doubting herself in the post-mission fallout. To say much more would spoil the journey for new readers.
Using flashbacks intertwined with current events can be a tricky technique to accomplish, but
splash_the_cat handles it with finesse. In fact, it adds to the off-balance feel Sam herself is going through. Her insecurities are something we don't see as often in the show, but sound perfectly in tune with the character, as do how the rest of her team reacts to her.
An excellent tale that makes me come away with something different every time I read it.
