Why This Must Be Read: I generally enjoy all of Travelling One’s work. The writing is crisp, the situations are always interesting and the Jack and Daniel friendship always strong and well characterized. This story stands out because in it Jack and Daniel take on personas that are very different from their own yet mirror them in some ways. It is also a haunting story that puts Jack in a situation that is difficult and painful. There is not suspense in the normal sense of the word but there is a growing fear throughout the story. Overall the situation is horrifying and gave me the chills. Even though Jack and Daniel interact throughout the story in these new personas (I won’t say more than that because it would give the unique premise away) they cannot truly talk with one another. The ending is truly canon Daniel and Jack. Plus the ending makes you think about this ever increasing virtual world we live in.
