Why This Must Be Read:

In many fics about Sam's family, Mark Carter is often portrayed as a villain. In this fic, we get to hear his point of view. Set during a tragic time for the family, Mark gets a look at his sister's life and meets her friends. This is not a man who presumes himself to be better than his sister; this is a man who knows he has flaws. He's also a man who, by the end of his visit, knows he has made some judgment errors.

So, why am I reccing a Mark Carter fic for the Sam/Jack category? Because, simply put, it's Sam and Jack through the eyes of someone who is essentially an outsider. Mark's from a military family, he knows there are regulations. And he knows there's more than meets the eye when it comes to these two.
