Why This Must Be Read: I'm a sucker for stories like this, where the friendship between the two characters is as important or more so than the romantic relationship. There's no mortal peril, no pressing emergency, just time for the two of them to talk. Mild humor, a bit of bonding, a bit of cuddling. It's a feel-good story, and sometimes you just want that.

Rodney smirked. “I always knew you were a woman of impeccable taste. But it leaves the ultimate question: why not Sheppard?”
Elizabeth snorted softly. “Because considering the colonel’s habit of finding trouble, an ocean thus-far devoid of dangerous life would suddenly reveal itself to be full of big, saw-toothed, life-sucking mega-fauna."
He nodded sagely. "Definitely a supportable hypothesis, considering the data gathered so far."
She shook her head in mock sadness. "It's the hair. He looks like a giant fishing lure."
