Why This Must Be Read: This is another classic, which oddly hasn't ever been reccd here before. The relationship with Lorne is only in the latter part of the story, but it's crucial in its own way. In this fic, siegeofangels turns DADT and fraternization on its head, creating an AU 'verse where military personnel are expected to fuck their fellow soldiers and commanding officers. It's called fraternitas, and is supposed to bond them all together more closely. If you don't join in you're viewed with suspicion and prejudice, and it messes up your career. John wants to fly, but he's asexual so has to fake that he enjoys fraternitas. This powerful and fascinating fic tells his story in the Air Force, then on Atlantis, and in the end, both Rodney and Lorne play key roles. It's a great read, very highly recommended.
