Why This Must Be Read: Author's Summary: 'Jack teaches Daniel to swim'

Daniel needs to pass a military survival test involving being ditched at sea, but is worried his water skills aren't up to the task. Jack offers to help. However, for me that's not what this story is actually about; while some lessons and advice don't go amiss, Daniel already knows how to swim ... in water, anyway. Making sense of the ebb and flow of his growing connection with Jack -- learning it, experiencing it, feeling its *bouyancy* -- is what this gentle, alluring story is all about for me. Simply beautiful.
