Why This Must Be Read: Author's summary: SG-1 become involved in a struggle on a world of interstellar abductees, triggering consequences for the planet, a team member, and the entire SGC.

The author's summary is a much better synopsis than anything I could come up with, so I won't even try to summarise the story. Instead, I will gush on about (with way too many adjectives) the other things that make this story so wonderful: the terrific and original premise, inventive world-building and beautifully fleshed-out original characters, the teamy goodness, great dialogue between our SG-1 heroes, the adept pacing that keeps the reader involved the whole way along ... it's all good. If you like SG-1 Team adventure stories that feature interesting, original plots and great characters, and don't mind a wee tidge of relative emphasis on Daniel, imo you may really enjoy this one.

Why This Must Be Read: Author's summary: General Jack O'Neill risks everything to rescue an SG team that has gone missing off-world. When it appears his efforts may lead to the ultimate sacrifice, SG-1 take matters into their own hands.

Jacob Carter shows up unexpectedly at the SGC, and shows General Jack evidence that a team which went missing months before might still be alive out there. Jack's credo that no one ought ever be left behind kicks into high gear, but it's clear that going after them is not as straightforward as sending out a Search and Rescue team. Jack's dedication to his people - his willingness to do whatever it takes to get them back home - is the launching point for this wide-ranging novel, which takes the reader on an epic Jack O'Neill adventure. There's a great plot, interesting off-world culture, well-drawn original characters, and plenty of intense action. The story is Jack-centred (including some plot-appropriate whumping), but there's also more than enough SG-1-Team adventure and overall Teamy-goodness to satisfy.
