Why This Must Be Read: Neither Rodney nor John enjoys schmoozing with their trade partners, but they can roll with the typical speeches and tedium. They can’t roll with the unexpected news that Rodney has unknowingly been “betrothed” to Princess Harmony for the past three years -- and she expects them to be married now that she’s sixteen. The only honorable reason to reject her is for Rodney to be already married -- and John jumps into the breach. But when word gets out, all their other trading partners want to throw celebrations for them... and they both gradually realize that they want their marriage to be more than fake.
