With the Wraith gone and John's secret revealed the problems have only begun. Especially when some people simply won't listen when they are given fair warning and need to be taught that their actions always have consequences.
This is part of a series, but once you know that John essentially inhabited by an Ancient, you really don't need a lot more.
The IOC, in it's infinite lack of wisdom, wants to examine John Sheppard to see what kind of weapon he might be for Earth. (Well, theoretically for Earth but the IOC always has its own interests at heart.) When they make the mistake of kidnapping Rodney, John is forced to return to Earth to rescue his mate.
While this is John's story, Jack is a major player in the overall story. Jack plays the mediator here; he and Daniel are on John's side and they try to argue with the idiot that is threatening John and Rodney.
