There's also a sequel There's a bathroom on the right where Zelenka's also transformed, but in a somewhat different way.
Why This Must Be Read: I think this is currently my favourite vampire AU in this or any other fandom. Boochicken describes it as crack but it's really that best of things - crack taken seriously (well, a little seriously). Rodney gets accidentally transformed into a vampire by the usual rogue piece of technology, and it's all from his POV as he goes through shock and denial, distress at being locked up while they investigate why he tried to bite people, and intense annoyance at this vampire nonsense actually being real (some of it - like the dead-seeming metabolism, the blood-drinking and bursting into flames in sunlight - not the crosses or holy water stuff). Throughout, Rodney is his usual snarky self, slightly taken aback that the Marines are now scared of him, but otherwise very much the same. John snarks back, and watches and worries, and eventually Rodney's new state brings them together. The romance with John is sweet and hot, so just handwave at the impossibility of a vampire with no circulation getting erections, okay? Let's not be too literal! :) There's a gripping plot, but it's the details throughout that are so enjoyable. Highly recommended - an excellent read!
