Why This Must Be Read: Gosh, I so love permanent injury fics and the ways the characters adapt. In this John's a retired veteran with PTSD and an amputation. He's absolutely not up for anything like working for the military but Rodney convinces him to join the Stargate program. It's full of John-Rodney friendship that builds up to something more. They both stumble trying to find their feet with each other (no pun) and it's earnest and sweet.
