Why This Must Be Read: First published way back in 1999, this excellent story follows on from the Season One episode 'Enigma'. The author uses Maybourne's threat against Daniel (in the last scene of the episode) as the foundation for a long, action-packed ride that involves two parallel adventures: that of Daniel, as Maybourne seeks revenge in spectacular fashion, plus that of the rest of SG-1 as they experience a dangerous off-world situation. And when the author brings those two threads together, the result is 'classic SG-1 team'.

Why This Must Be Read: I had to ask around recently to find this fic again because somehow I'd forgotten to bookmark it. John has toothache and Rodney theorises that he has a fear of dentist when he does absolutely nothing about it for days. Acting under the pretext of his own (very real) dental fears, Rodney kidnaps John and takes him to a dentist he trusts. This is two parts hilarious and one part sweet. There are no official warnings, but there's allusion to dentistry which might make some uncomfortable, and Rodney breaks up with Jennifer and gets together with John within the space of five minutes. I know that's not everyone's jam, but it works well in the context of this fic.
