Why This Must Be Read: This is an interesting and gripping AU, Earth-based, non-sci-fi, and very much about found family. It's part of a series, the "Texas AU" and Long Road Home is the start and longest story, with some follow-on fics. In this, John's a disabled and traumatised veteran, Teyla's an illegal immigrant from south of the border, and Rodney's a burnt out CIA border agent. It's got action, adventure and hurt/comfort, and it's a great read.
