Why This Must Be Read: Rhymer23 has written lots of excellent genfics, so I couldn't end this month of reccing without including one. In this story Ronon and John are in dire straits on ruined Sateda, with Ronon trying to rescue a wounded and ancient-tech-whammied John. The POV alternates but is mainly Ronon's, and there's some good Ronon/Sateda backstory. Great characterization, lots of angsty action-adventure, and a nice long, gripping read all round. Recommended!

Why This Must Be Read: Okay, so here I am trying to get one, last rec out while it's still January... I'm pretty sure this story is already recced here somewhere, but it's not filed under humour and it really, really should be.

This story is both hilarious and creative. Julad takes what should be an absolutely ridiculous premise and turns it into a something that isn't at all crack, and somehow manages to even be somewhat thought-provoking. Rodney and Radek get cursed (yes, cursed) by an alien race and as a result, when they try to communicate with anyone they sound like ducks and when they write anything down, the only thing anyone else can see is 'quack'. Quacking aside, the two scientists are hilarious together as they try to figure out just how the aliens did it.

Why This Must Be Read:

On a mission, something happens to Rodney to change his personality.

I love the way stillane shows the people of Atlantis, especially his team, trying to cope and adjust to this "new" Rodney. It's somewhat heartbreaking to watch how each of them does their best and can't help but feel unhappy with the "new" Rodney anyway. Stillane has each character react and deal in their own, characteristic way. That's the people we know from the show. The story has a happy end, so don't hesitate to read.

Because it's just plain fun to read about the team working together to carry out Teyla's clever and elaborate plan ("Poet Dex"!) while at the same time John is acting pissed at Rodney who doesn't even know why until John swallows a truth serum on a mission. Clever team, pining John, oblivious Rodney - that combo is always a winner with me.
