Why This Must Be Read: One thing that really hung over everyone's head in the military was "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" - and it made life so difficult for so many people. This fic shows the extent of that heartbreak. Evan (Nick in this story, because it's an older fic before we knew his name) lost someone dear to him, as did Stackhouse. They meet one night, offering each other comfort and consolement. What casspeach has written here is full of angst, and exactly how I would expect someone serving under DADT would act.

In this story, "Nick" is about to go to Atlantis for the first time. He gets drunk the night before, still mourning the loss of his lover, and runs into a Marine who seems to be in the same predicament.
