Why You Should Read This: When Rodney is suddenly de-aged, it's up to John to care for little Meredith. And it's not easy: Meredith is a broken little boy, and John has to care for him while coming to terms with the fact that his friend might never come back. John's love for Meredith - and the love he feels for Rodney - are really the heart of this piece. If I had to describe this fic in one word, it'd be "bittersweet". It made me cry and when I linked to it from my personal journal, it made several of my friends cry. If you like Sardonicsmiley's work, be sure to check this out - and bring tissues.

Why You Should Read This: In a post-apocalyptic world, Rodney McKay is travelling on his own. Travelling by foot, since the roads are clogged with the dead, still locked in their cars in an attempt to escape the sickness. He happens upon a wolf trapped in a sinkhole, and after managing to get it free, he continues on his journey - with the wolf following behind. But the wolf isn't any ordinary wolf! The fic flips between Rodney's present and John's past, and the author has said there will be a follow up in which more questions are answered, but the fic already posted is satisfying - especially if you're a fan of The Stand. There's some graphic imagery, but I had no problems finishing this fic in a couple hours with satisfaction.
